The Royal Marsden Hospital Genomics NGS Report Update

From 14 October 2026, the current multi-page DNA NGS report produced by our Royal Marsden laboratory will be replaced with a clearer, shorter report. This change affects the report format only; there are no changes to the clinical content, request pathways, turnaround times, or report delivery methods.

October 13, 2026

We want to inform you of a forthcoming change to the format of DNA NGS reports issued by our service.

  • The current multi-page report format will be replaced with a clearer, shorter report with two main sections: NGS Variants and Interpretation.
  • Any variants detected in a sample will be included in a table displayed within the NGS Variants section.
  • The Interpretation section will include the clinical interpretation of the variants. This section will be included in the integrated reports (SIHMDS only).
  • The CNV plot will remain as an embedded image within the report.
  • The panel content information previously included in the PDF will be available at https://www.royalmarsden.nhs.uk/services/genomics/nhs-healthcare-providers

The upcoming change will only affect the format of our DNA NGS reports. There will be no changes to the clinical content of the report, request pathways, or turnaround times. Reports will continue to be issued via Order & View (O&V) or NHS.net email, in line with current practice. An example of the new report format is provided in the attached report. This change has been implemented as part of our ongoing review of our genomic service as a requirement to integrate our bioinformatics pipeline with our EPR (Epic) and it will streamline our reporting processes.

The confirmed date of the go-live for this change is Wednesday 14 October 2026.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the laboratory.
