Patients and Public involvement in the GMS
Our patient, public and carer panel is made up of representatives from across our region. They work with us across all areas, providing vital insights and co-producing key projects.
Our Patient, Public and Carer Panel
The North Thames GMS is committed to involving members of the public at every level of our work. The North Thames Patient, Public and Carer (PPC) Panel has been established to ensure that the experiences and lay expertise of patients, the public and carers are at the heart of the North Thames GMS.
The Panel is made up of representatives from across the North Thames region, who bring a range of experiences of genetic testing. The vision of the PPC Panel is that all genomic health and care services, innovations and research in the North Thames region are designed and delivered in partnership with our diverse population.
The panel collaborates with the GMS to
- hold open discussions about the challenges and opportunities for genomics in the region
- review and input into transformation projects and genomic service pathways to ensure they best reflect what patients, families, carers and the public consider most important
- and ensure transparent and accessible communications between the GMS and the communities in our region.
The PPC panel is represented on all key governance structures to ensure patient, family and carers’ experiences and voices are heard at a senior level within the GMS and inform decision making across the breadth of North Thames GMS activities.
